About

When we talk about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), the first people to come to mind are usually Veterans. While Veterans have been exposed to very serious traumatic situations, the people I want to draw attention to are survivors of sexual assault and abuse. This perspective is becoming a more common topic of discussion in our society, and the value in continuing these conversations is so crucial to helping survivors of all kinds of trauma with resources, validation, support, and an increasingly educated community. The reality is, we all know someone who has been through some kind of trauma… if that’s the case, what are you willing to do to support someone in your life? And if you have survived a trauma in your life, this is a great place to find others who are also trying to figure out life through the lens of a survivor mentality. Make sure to follow Flourishing With PTSD on Instagram @flourishing.with.ptsd.

Through the podcast series Flourishing With PTSD and the blog here on this page, I hope to provide some insight on what these survivors are going through, to help connect some dots by articulating some basic concepts that are experienced by many people during and after trauma, and what supporters of survivors need to know.

Inspirations & Hope

“But the human spirit is resilient. God made us so. He gave us the ability to forgive. To leave our past behind. To look forward instead of back.”

Elizabeth Smart, My Story

“Healing doesn’t mean the pain never existed. It means the damage no longer controls our lives.

I survived because the fire inside me burned brighter than the fire around me.
